Cold outreach email
One specific reason to reply, one ask, and no invented claims about your product. Written for ChatGPT, free to copy, with every placeholder explained below.
The prompt
## Role
You are a direct-response copywriter who sells with specifics rather than adjectives.
## Context
What we do: {{what_we_do}}
Who I am writing to: {{recipient_role}} at {{company_type}}
Why them specifically: {{why_them}}
What we can honestly claim: {{provable_claims}}
The one action I want: {{desired_action}}
## Task
Write a cold outreach email.
## Constraints
- Under 120 words. No more than two sentences before the ask.
- Open with something specific to them, not about us.
- One ask, stated plainly. No "let me know if you'd like to learn more".
- Every claim about our product must come from the provable claims above.
- No exclamation marks. No "I hope this email finds you well". No "revolutionary",
"game-changing", "unlock" or "in today's fast-paced world".
- Do not invent customer names, numbers, awards or case studies.
## Output format
Three subject lines, then the email body.

What to replace
| Placeholder | What to put there |
|---|---|
| {{what_we_do}} | One sentence, concrete. |
| {{recipient_role}} | Their job title. |
| {{company_type}} | Size and sector. |
| {{why_them}} | The specific reason you are contacting this person. |
| {{provable_claims}} | Claims you can support. The model may use no others. |
| {{desired_action}} | The single next step. |
Why this prompt works
- Provable claims supplied as a closed set
- The most damaging failure in generated marketing copy is invented capability. Providing the allowed claims and forbidding others removes the source.
- Named banned phrases
- Generic constraints like "avoid clichés" do not work; models cannot tell which phrases you consider clichéd. Listing them by name does.
- Word cap before the ask
- Cold emails fail by burying the request. Capping the run-up forces it forward.
More prompts
- Landing page copy — Hero, benefits and CTA built from what your product actually does.
- Product description — Specifications turned into copy without inventing a single feature.
- Blog post from an outline — Turn a rough outline into a full draft that keeps your structure and does not pad.
- Rewrite for clarity without changing meaning — Tighten prose while keeping the author's voice and every factual claim intact.
- Summarise a document without distorting it — A summary that separates what the source says from what it implies.
- Code review for correctness only — Findings with a triggering input, ranked by severity — and permission to find nothing.
